150 Years Ago Today, Something Important Happened in the US…But Not at a Chinese KFC

Shanghai - Old Nanjing Road KFC

A KFC along East Nanjing Road in Shanghai, China greeted me with this weird and surreal mural in 2005.  Whether or not it’s still around, I don’t know for sure — anyone want to go check it out?  Who needs history books when you’ve got fried chicken?  That’s what President Abraham Lincoln famously never declared.

However, he did promulgate something significantly more important on this date 150 years ago

  1. What a crazily kitsch kinda mural – surreal?! However I must say how amazing it is that KFC transformed itself into a place known for fabulous rice boxes in China! Try to get one of those back in the U S of A?!
